Musician's
Journal
Remember that last gig you played? It was
a time you don't want to forget, and what a thrill it was to
play for such a large crowd. These are memories you want to
remember and perhaps even pass on to you children. Is there
a particular issue you need to work on in your own playing?
Maybe there is a new scale or lick you need to learn for the
next gig. Keeping a musician's journal is an excellent way to
chronicle your progress as a musician, and to keep yourself
reminded of things you need to work on. They are great to take
with you to practice so you can keep a record of what you did
and what you need for the next session.
Here are some
thoughts to get you started in Music Journaling.
Keep your journal small and it might be able
to fit in your instrument case.
There are some commercially available journals
that will give you "fill in the blank" information
to keep your journaling consistant. This will be very helpful
when you need to rebook gigs, keep track of song material or
manage band members.
When you're rich and famous, your journal
will be worth a ton of money on eBay!
(Just kidding!)
